Description
We are very excited to share that Harsha Walia will be joining us on June 2nd for a Keynote Talk entitled 'Abolish Borders' as part of Antipode's 10th Institute for the Geographies of Justice, hosted by the Department of Geography and Planning and the Centre for Caribbean Studies (poster attached).
In this talk, Walia will situate the current horrors of immigration violence—including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in the US and the mass deportation machinery being built up in Canada —within an internationalist and abolitionist politics, with a transnational and global analysis of migration, gendered displacement, racial capitalism, settler colonialism, and rising fascism.
Harsha's talk and Q&A will be from 5-6:30pm in the William Doo Auditorium, at 45 Willcocks Street, and will be followed by a reception from 6:30-8pm at the Faculty Club, at 41 Willcocks Street. Light snacks will be served at the reception, with a cash bar available.
Please register your attendance for this event at the following link, or use the QR code on the poster.
